Publishing Nitmod sources

Hi,

Since the project does not seem to be continued, if this topic is ever saw by Nitrox or other devs (?), I'd like N!tmod to be published under GPLv3, like ET itself is. This will lead to a possible continuation of the project

What do you think about this?
Thanks for considering my request.

PS: And if you have any news on Nitrox, or a way to contact him, post it here or in PM. Since the domain and hosting service are renewed, I assume he is not dead.

Re: Publishing Nitmod sources

I'm gonna try to fork ET Legacy mod, if Nitmod is not viable anymore. But I don't have any knowledge in ET source code, and I don't know much C.

Re: Publishing Nitmod sources

well,....nothing happen past year. Even Nitmod is claimed to have anticheat system, it does not show like that on et.trackbace.
I know nothing more than you,.... but I guess there is a problem with anticheat system, since they have not accepted system on et.trackbase.
But then again,... I only guess.

Re: Publishing Nitmod sources

I am looking for some motivated developers to work with me to create a new ET mod. The main goal would be to reinforce the open source side, which ET Legacy does not: describe particularly the code to make it easy to edit. If so, we would contribute to the Enemy Territory game life span.
Then, we should extend the features and particularly about modules: extend Lua API support, add Perl or Python API, load compiled mods from .so or .dll, easy access to all information concerning maps, players, and a better support for launching server commands. Also, do not have an anti cheat that blocks self compiled games, find something else like checking player moves server-side.
I don't know much the C language but I can learn with motivated people.
Feel free to share this message and topic to find the good people.

Re: Publishing Nitmod sources

So, this is the list of mods we can work with:
- ET Legacy: complete client and also a mod, need to isolate the mod part
- Jaymod
- ETPub
- NoQuarter? (not sure if it's open source)
- and maybe some others, see this page.
(unfortunately not Silent)

Re: Publishing Nitmod sources

About trackbase not showing anticheat status (or any other server tracker, don't know which ones are still running right now since i've not player ET for a while), I have absolutely no control over this, and I already had a discussion with Paul about this, the issue was supposed to be fixed.

Maybe the n_NxAC cvar value is wrong, which causes the trackers to think the server is not cheat protected (see : http://etmods.net/nxac_setup.php ) ? I dunno...

For the rest, you probably want to check the "Latest news".

Re: Publishing Nitmod sources

I started making a few things in my mod etbloat (double jump and shot while leaning for now), but if I had Nitmod sources it would really help to import code (with authorization, need to be GPL compliant).
